KDDI America, Inc. and TELEHOUSE (News - Alert) America, U.S. divisions of KDDI Corporation, a global Fortune 500 company and major player in international telecommunications services and data center services, have announced the newest data center addition, TELEHOUSE Hong Kong CCC (Cloud Computing Complex).

TELEHOUSE Hong Kong CCC, which is scheduled for December of this year, is designed to meet TELEHOUSE's standard for excellence and carrier neutrality.

This will be the 42nd data center in the global portfolio and the third new TELEHOUSE data center to open this year.

Officials with KDDI America said that KDDI Corporation will invest 50 percent in HKCOLO (News - Alert).NET, the first neutral colocation service provider in Hong Kong, which will manage the overall facility.

Company officials said that TELEHOUSE Hong Kong CCC, which will be located in the Tseung Kwan O district of Hong Kong, will be the most advanced data center in Hong Kong providing redundant access to ensure carrier diversity, two routes of power supply from different power substations, protected by redundant uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and backup generators to cover commercial power incidents.

According to company officials, the data center also is protected by extensive security measures, including a 24 hour/365 day monitoring and access management system. The total floor area of the center will be 36,000 square meters.

TMCnet in March reported that KDDI (News - Alert) America has expanded its metro network in West Coast areas.

The KDDI network will connect between the major data centers on the West Coast such as TELEHOUSE Los Angeles, Equinix (News - Alert) LA1 Los Angeles, Equinix SV8 Palo Alto, and Equinix SV1 San Jose.

Officials with KDDI America said that by connecting the metro networks between these data centers, the company can provide Internet or Ethernet services as a very cost-effective solution to their customer base.
