Using the new interactive U-Verse TV app released by AT&T, users can now access Facebook (News - Alert) from their TV screens and also watch their favorite shows at the same time.

The TV App also lets users to access newsfeeds, friends list and photos, post and share status updates and information and to interact with other Facebook friends.

"The TV experience is becoming more social, and we've always focused on delivering interactive TV apps that are more engaging and provide an overall better experience. This app gives U-verse TV and High Speed Internet customers the ability to share information about what they're watching on their TV with their remote, on any U-verse TV screen. It's another example of how we continue to enhance and bring more value to the U-verse experience," remarked Maria Dillard, vice president of U-verse and video products at AT&T (News - Alert) home solutions.

U-Verse customers are provided with the ability to add ten different accounts on a single receiver and all they need is a Facebook account and high-speed access via U-Verse for deploying the app. The app is seen as an effort by AT&T to capture the popularity of the social media and the marketing advantages it offers.

AT&T claimed that it is continually rolling out new Interactive apps for users at no extra charge and users have to simply press the Go Interactive button on their remote for one-touch access to a full array of Interactive and Integrated apps. When they locate the app they want, they can press the OK button on their remote to launch the app and enjoy their interactive experience.

In related news, AT&T's U-Verse went wireless with the help of Cisco (News - Alert) and offered Longhorn Network to Texas customers.
