Axis (News - Alert) Communications, a provider of solutions for network video, stated that its newly unveiled AXIS P3384-V/-VE Fixed Dome Network Cameras is loaded with both wide dynamic range (WDR) with 'dynamic capture' and Lightfinder technologies.

Dynamic capture enables the cameras to record in environments where lighting varies strongly and Lightfinder technology helps it capture quality color video even in the dimmest areas.

In the real world, the intensity, quality and direction of natural and artificial light often fluctuates throughout the day and in order for a camera to be rated as a worthy product it should be able to produce quality video in a variety of difficult lighting conditions such as low light, direct light, through shadows and while fighting reflections.

Axis exclaimed that its AXIS P3384 is designed to endure a wide range of lighting conditions and still manage to deliver outstanding performance. The imaging flexibility feature built into the cameras make them suitable for all types of surveillance applications, including at airports, train stations, hospitals, government buildings, banks, retail stores and for city surveillance.

The camera also supports P-Iris control, allowing the camera to precisely control the position of the iris. The iris opening is optimized for depth of field, lens resolution and light inlet, resulting in superb image quality with optimal sharpness.

"When it comes to difficult lighting scenarios in surveillance, some cameras are fantastic in low light, while others are great when sun shines directly at the lens. Unfortunately, this meant users often had to choose between, say, low light performance or exceptional WDR and select the camera that worked best for the lighting scenario they deemed more important. That changes with the introduction of AXIS P3384", stated Fredrik Nilsson, general manager at Axis Communications, in a press release.

Some of the other notable features of the product include: superb video in 1MP or HDTV 720p quality; H.264 main profile and multiple H.264 streams; easy installation with remote focus and zoom; outdoor-ready and vandal-resistant design; and more.
