LiveU Technology Chosen by Alaska Coastal Television
Coastal Television and LiveU (News
) recently entered into a strategic long-standing contract. LiveU will offer its live, video-over-cellular transmission technology to Coastal Television. The technology will be used for supplying power for Coastal Television's electronic news collection operations.
Currently, the LiveU's LU70 is utilized for coverage of news and sports both, on-air and on the Web.
"Coastal Television has had great success utilizing the LiveU technology across all of our stations, ABC, Fox and CW affiliates," said Scott Centers, COO at Coastal Television. "We've really been relying on the unit as a flexible and cost-efficient way for us to cover the Seattle Seahawks, which many consider our 'home team' for Alaska. Through LiveU, we made history by broadcasting the first live shot from Seattle on any television outlet here in the state."
3G/4G LTE (News
) wireless circuits that have been connected via proprietary RF technology are utilized by the LU70 backpack from LiveU. The LU70 backpack provides an experience similar to the satellite due to its flexibility and capability to offer maximum of 1080 HD video and subsecond latency.
'Coastal Television's use of LiveU is a perfect example of how our units have few geographic limitations to bring live news home to viewers," said Mike Savello, VP of Sales at LiveU. "Whether traveling with our highly-portable equipment to cover sports in a large city like Seattle, or covering breaking news from remote areas of Alaska, our proprietary internal antenna array allows live video to be transmitted from both strong signal and weaker signal regions.'
LiveU has forged new grounds by offering broadcast-quality, video-over-cellular solutions. These solutions
ensure transmission of live view, both HD and SD, from any location worldwide. Numerous 4G LTE/3G, HSPA+, WiMAX (News
) and Wi-Fi cellular links, optimized for greatest video quality, comprise the backpack/handheld solutions from LiveU. The organization's offerings are currently being utilized by major organizations in at least 60 countries across the globe.
LiveU's offerings have been used for unveiling news-related and sophisticated events like the London 2012 Olympics, the 2012 U.S. Presidential Election, and the 2011 British Royal Wedding.
