Motorola (News - Alert) Mobility launched the Motorola Certified Passive Optical LAN (POL) Specialist (MCPS) Program to provide training and to certify distributors, integrators, value added resellers and end-customer technology professionals working with Motorola POL solutions.

This certification program is expected to make them experts in GPON based enterprise optical LAN technology. Motorola MCPS Certification will be awarded to any Motorola partner or end-user employee from March 2013, said officials.
Joe Cozzolino, senior vice president and general manager of Network and Infrastructure Solutions at Motorola Mobility said, "Motorola's new MCPS program provides a path for individuals within our distributor, integrator and value added reseller network to learn, achieve and be recognized as experts in this fast growing POL arena."

"In addition, this certification will help highly skilled enterprise networking individuals bring Motorola's best-in-class POL solution to companies worldwide, while also elevating and rewarding their professional development," Cozzolino added.
Also Motorola's Passive Optical LAN (POL) is based on GPON technology and it enhances enterprise network deployment, operation and management. POL delivers optimum security, carrier-class reliability and also saves power making it a cost effective solution.
The POL solution actually gives 55 percent reduction in capital spending and nearly 75 percent reduction in overall operational costs. In the case of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) it provides savings of up to 65 percent when compared to traditional LAN architectures.
Motorola's POL solutions are used in varying applications serving enterprise, military and government agencies. Motorola has joined hands with Fujitsu (News - Alert) to deploy an interoperable GPON-WDM (Gigabit Passive Optical Networking - Wavelength Division Multiplexing) solution for the United States Department of Defense.
Recently Nextel and Motorola Mobility launched the new Motorola MASTER TOUCH, the latest Smartradio from both companies that runs on Nextel Evolution, a fast data and voice network. This new handset comes with a 4-inch touch screen, a 5MP camera with 4X digital zoom and LED flash, and HD720p video that allows users to capture and share pictures and videos.
