TMC's Newest Conference in Santa Clara, California Uncovers Opportunities in Network Functions Virtualization for Telecommunications Market
NORWALK, Conn. - April 8, 2013 - TMC today announced Software Telco Congress, a new event that focuses on the impact virtualization and cloud computing will have on the multibillion dollar telecom equipment market. Software Telco Congress will take place November 19-21, 2013, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, California.

'The software telco market represents the biggest disruption and opportunity in the carrier spending this decade,' said Rich Tehrani (News - Alert), CEO at TMC. 'Software Telco Congress will focus on leading this change by bringing cutting-edge discussions and sessions to the conference agenda.'
Virtualization has taken the IT world by storm, but to date, the communications market has been mostly unaffected - relying instead on proprietary appliances for numerous functions. But as network hardware begins to be released as software, carriers are expected to save money and benefit greatly from new levels of flexibility related to hosting their network in private and virtual private clouds.

Moreover, this move to software will open up the market to new players who may not have had the deep pockets needed to develop proprietary hardware.  New carriers will be able to quickly scale and compete, as they won't have to purchase costly central office equipment to get started.
'By leveraging software, commercial hardware, and virtualization, the software telco will be able to meet the Age of Acceleration challenge head on,' said Erik Linask (News - Alert), group editorial director for TMC. 'This creates a more flexible network and drives an already competitive environment to new heights.'
Software Telco Congress is supported by diamond sponsors Metaswitch Networks and Adtran.
