Any2 Exchange Upgrades Switching Infrastructure at CRG West's One Wilshire

LOS ANGELES --(Business Wire)-- Internet traffic on the Any2 Exchange, based at the One Wilshire Building in downtown Los Angeles, grew more than 300 percent during the past quarter. Membership on the rapidly growing Internet exchange now surpasses 80 participating networks, with new participants representing all areas of Internet content and service delivery.

"Our Any2 Exchange community is demanding much higher capacity, more Internet peering options, and a roadmap for future growth," said John Savageau, Managing Director at CRG West. "We needed to provide 10 Gigabit Ethernet access ports, the ability to upgrade at some point to 100 Gigabit Ethernet, and ensure the Any2 Exchange community could continue growing to accommodate over 300 networks present at both One Wilshire and Market Post Tower in San Jose, California."

CRG West, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Carlyle Group, operates facilities including One Wilshire - one of the most densely connected carrier hotel and data centers in the world, Market Post Tower, 1275 K Street NW in Washington D.C., 427 S. LaSalle in Chicago, and the Miami Exchange.

"Internet traffic through all our facilities has continued to grow over the past couple of years, replacing much of the former telephony and leased line traffic. The Any2 Exchange was built to help content delivery and service provider networks more rapidly deploy their networks, and have much more flexibility in developing new Internet peering relationships with other networks operating within CRG West's One Wilshire and Market Post Tower facilities," added Savageau.

CRG West selected Foundry Networks' powerful RX-16 switch platform to provide the high capacity switching needed to meet both current and future Any2 Exchange needs.

"The Foundry RX-16 offers a robust, scalable architecture with a great cost per port model, allowing us to dedicate more of our capital resources to Any2 Exchange service development," continued Savageau. "Foundry Networks gives us a strong partner, who fully understands the Internet exchange community, and will work with the Any2 Exchange while we further develop services to meet the needs of our Internet community."

The Any2 Exchange is a premier interconnection point for Asia, the Americas, and Europe. For more information about the Any2 Exchange visit the Any2 Support Web Site at http://www.onewilshire.com/meet_me_room/any2.htm, or contact any2@crgwest.com.
