Tuning into Relationship Management

By Peter B. Counter, TMCnet Contributing Writer

Networking is an important, sometimes daunting, and always forced part of managing a business. Now that we have so many separate ways to make connections with the vast pool of connected people that can help grow our businesses and strengthen our reach, we have just as many devices and apps to juggle in making sure the relationships being fostered receive the proper attention. Twitter, Facebook (News - Alert), LinkedIn are the three major networks that come to mind, but there are more and they aren’t going away.

To stay afloat in this sea of active contacts is no easy feat. That is exactly why customer relationship management (CRM) apps exist, and quite frankly, are catching on in a very strong way, allowing companies to connect with and better serve customers in a world that is rewarding the niche market-focused small business.

The minds behind Nimble have looked to Pandora (News - Alert), the popular Internet streaming radio service, in order to provide what appears to be a very viable solution to the enterprise that is drowning in friends. The third version having just been launched, Nimble (News - Alert) exists to make its clients more socially relevant through targeted and meticulously managed contact and relationship building.

Nimble kind of manages your virtual life, and in doing so optimizes your social experience. By integrating with your calendar, e-mail and various social streams, the app can keep track of how long it’s been since you’ve last interacted with a contact or client, giving you reminders when it’s time to engage with that person on the other end.

By measuring your interactions through the app, Nimble also actively searches for new relationships to suggest for you, remembers which contacts you deem highly important and curates the information presented through the front page of its interface. Citing Pandora again on the official website, Nimble likens the relationships you have to the radio: with an entire world accessible to you there is a lot of noise, but with the smart management system working for you constantly you won’t only be on the receiving end of a lot of signal, but tunes that really appeal to your taste.

A strong social presence is more important now than it ever has been. Networking is a two-way street: there is a lot of noise on the other end, sometimes even more. It’s a smart investment to enable noise reduction on your end. After all, it might be the key to staying in tune with the people who need you most.
