4 powerful marketing strategies to promote your brand

Something that unites small and medium businesses, no matter their industry, is needing to promote themselves with a limited marketing budget, so what are some inexpensive ways to increase awareness of a company? Let’s look into them below.

1.Get a website

This is one of the first things that any company needs is a website, which can familiarise the public with the brand through relevant and useful blog posts, inform potential customers about what goods/services are on offer, and take orders.

2.Use social media

Social media is something that around 73.5% of the British population use, many every day, so a social page or profile is a free, fast, and fun way to get a company in front of more customers. Some of the most popular are Facebook (News - Alert), Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Reddit, Snapchat, and Pinterest, but the user demographics vary, so look target only the sites that your specific customers will be on and tailor campaigns from site to site.

As a side note, the paid advertising on there is relatively inexpensive for the exposure provided.

3.Make it unique

No matter how good the product or service on offer is, there are hundreds on the market and customers can get overwhelmed by choice. That’s why brand identity is so important. It should feel natural to the individual company, because not every product or service, can be edgy. Tongue-in-cheek humour might work for fizzy drinks or sports equipment, but it’s harder to pull off for financial advice. Think about what the brand is offering and who the customers are likely to be to find what works.

4.Find new ways to advertise

Forget billboards and TV adverts, at least for now, and check out these low cost and still effective ways to get the word out:

  • Branded gifts: Promotional products, like those made by Pens.com, are an easy way to get the word out to many potential customers, especially at fairs or other networking events. It can be something as simple as the humble pen or more specific to your brand, like laptop bags if you sell electronics or mugs if you sell coffee. These can also be given away through social media competitions or in exchange for newsletter subscriptions. Never underestimate the power of free stuff.
  • Influencers: Whether they’re blogging or posting on social media, people in your niche are already seeking them out for advice and it might just take some free samples to get them talking about you.
  • Free webinars or classes: Much like a gym offering free exercise classes to get potential customers inside the facilities, other brands might offer one of their classes for free or even create a webinar on how to use their products.
  • Podcasts: Unlike YouTube (News - Alert) adverts, these are hard to skip effectively so people have to listen to the whole advert, especially as it’s mostly read out by the podcast host. For more information, click here.

Hopefully, these four points proving a great jumping-off point for your marketing campaign. Remember not to rush things. It can be easy to think that getting your brand out in front of people now is the most important thing, but it takes time to develop a brand that people trust. Play the long game and success will be longer-lasting.
