Avaya to Participate in $4 Billion U.S. Army Upgrade Project TMCnet Contributing Editor Avaya has been selected to participate with nine other companies in a $4 billion U.S. Army project to upgrade voice and data communications infrastructures of the agency's bases worldwide.
The Infrastructure Modernization (IMOD) contract will support the Arm’'s Installation Information Infrastructure Modernization Program (I3MP) with a single integrated communications system that will combine voice, data, inside/outside cable plant and transmission products and services.
The new contract will award project participants a “minimum guarantee delivery order, with ordering under all ten contracts, collectively, subject to a total of $4 billion,” noted the company's news release. “Infrastructure Modernization is one of my top priorities. IMOD will enhance communications and networking capabilities at posts, camps and stations worldwide,” stated Lt. Gen. Steven W. Boutelle, the chief information officer/G-6 of the Army, in a statement. “This will enable better, faster flows of information transmitted through voice and data and will be a good thing for war fighters everywhere.”
Today’s news follows Avaya (News - Alert)’s announcement on Monday about it being tapped by health and hygiene company Kimberly-Clark to be its provider of global telephony applications and communications network services. The new agreement calls for Avaya to provide Kimberly-Clark with the Avaya MultiVantage Communications Applications, a suite of IP-based telephony, contact center, messaging and mobility applications, to connect more than 57,000 employees across the world.
