Launch: NetZero's Free VoIP Service

United Online Inc. announced today that it will bundle its NetZero Voice 100 Internet phone plan with its accelerated NetZero HiSpeed 3G Internet service. The new offering will give HiSpeed 3G users 100 free minutes per month. The free minutes can be used to make or receive calls through a computer to any phone number in the United States, Canada or Puerto Rico.

NetZero HiSpeed 3G can be purchased online for $9.95 with a 12-month commitment. Anyone who signs up for a NetZero HiSpeed 3G account will receive a NetZero Voice 100 account as part of their plan. Existing NetZero HiSpeed 3G members will be given the opportunity to activate a free NetZero Voice 100 account online for no extra charge. In addition, existing NetZero Platinum and free NetZero ISP users can upgrade their service to HiSpeed 3G to qualify for the bundled offer.

"We're the first major ISP to add free VoIP calling to our access plan,'' said Mark R. Goldston, chairman, CEO and president of United Online. "And we're the only one that gives members a VoIP calling plan that lets them make high-quality phone calls over a dial-up Internet connection. For as low as $9.95 a month, our members get Internet access, Internet calling and premium features like a personal telephone number with voicemail and call forwarding that might cost extra from their current phone service.''

NetZero Voice 100 is one of four United Online Internet calling plans. Other NetZero Internet calling plans include the NetZero Free Voice, which enables free PC-to-PC calling between members; Pay-As-You-Go, for members who want low-cost calling to international destinations; and the NetZero Voice Unlimited, which provides unlimited free calling to any phone number in the United States, Canada or Puerto Rico for $14.95 per month. All NetZero Voice plans work over dial-up and broadband Internet connections regardless of the Internet service provider.

NetZero HiSpeed 3G members who subscribe to the new bundle can choose a personal phone number, including area code, and other features including voicemail with the NetZero Message Center, instant messaging (IM) capabilities, caller ID, call waiting, call blocking, 3-way calling and call forwarding, which allows incoming calls to be forwarded to up to three phone numbers in succession and answered on any telephone.

United Online made news last month when it announced that NetZero HiSpeed 3G, Juno Turbo and Juno Speedband members were now eligible to receive complimentary Norton AntiVirus Online software to help protect them against Internet-transmitted threats including viruses, Trojan horses, and spyware.

"Online security is a priority at United Online," said United Online's Goldston. "Giving our customers free access to superior antivirus protection through Norton AntiVirus Online, in addition to our existing email antivirus and phishing protection, will help provide a high level of Internet security and a safer surfing experience."

Norton AntiVirus Online locates and removes viruses, worms and Trojan horses from e-mail messages, instant message (IM) attachments and other sources automatically, without interrupting the user's Internet experience. It also protects against important non-virus threats including spyware and keystroke loggers that can steal personal info from a user's computer without their knowledge.
