To improve staff efficiency and safety, St. Vincent's Melbourne is set to replace its legacy paging system with Amcom Messenger clinical alerting middleware. The software will cover staff across more than 600 DECT (News - Alert) phones and other mobile devices.

St. Vincent's is a tertiary public healthcare center, providing acute medical and surgical services, emergency and critical care, aged care, diagnostics, rehabilitation, allied health, mental health, palliative care and residential care.
The center also undertakes research and educates the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Amcom Messenger is an intelligent middleware application that connects critical information from third-party systems to mobile staff carrying wireless communication devices. This solution creates an enterprise-wide hub for the management, prioritization and response to key events across the entire organization.
Amcom Messenger clinical alerting middleware provides the functionality that enables quick response and rich features. These include:
Alarm filtering: Establish rules that direct the right alarms to the right staff members to eliminate the overload caused by receiving unnecessary information throughout the day.
Assignment client: Assign particular devices to staff ensuring that updates are sent to the right person based on his or her role and communication device preferences.
Integration to your communication devices: Amcom Messenger has proven interoperability with virtually all communication output devices.
Integrated messaging: Apply industry-standard methods for common alarm/input standards-based systems
Amcom Messenger middleware is used to send messages from multiple nurse call and other alerting systems to appropriate staff's mobile devices.
"We're pleased Amcom Messenger has already begun to make an impact at St. Vincent's Melbourne," John Jordan, general manager, Amcom Software, Asia-Pacific, said in a statement. "Sending time-sensitive alerts to the personnel who can act on them eliminates guesswork and wasted time, which is essential to support busy hospital staff."
Amcom Software is a subsidiary of USA Mobility (News - Alert) Inc., and the company is focused on connecting people to each other and to the data they need. The company's products are used by leading organizations in healthcare, hospitality, education, business and government.
Recently, the company unveiled that Rockingham Memorial Hospital picked up its call recording solution to further extend the capabilities of its technical infrastructure to ensure its staff can work even more efficiently.
