Telenity, a global provider of end-to-end service delivery platforms and applications for mobile and next-generation telecommunications networks, announced on Wednesday that Geocell of Georgia (the country, not the state) selected Telenity's Canvas integrated suite of platforms and services for its GSM network.

The agreement calls for Telenity's Canvas Service Delivery Platform, Multimedia Messaging Service Center, Short Messaging Service Center, Voice Mail System, and voice supported services and applications to be deployed on servers from Sun Microsystems.

"Canvas CoolRings high steps into personalized and affordable value added services, said Telenity Europe General Manager Serif Beykoz.  "And with the Canvas SDP, Geocell leverages existing network assets because integration of management and support systems takes place only once.  More significantly, Canvas SDP ensures that Geocell can create their own services, collaborate with service and content developers, and exercise new options to support a wide variety of business models, including resale and revenue sharing arrangements."

The first ringback tone service offered by Geocell on Canvas CoolRings enables subscribers to replace ring tones with pre-selected, personalized greetings for callers.

"Ringtones, ringback tones, games and wallpapers are part of what is driving revenue growth," said Osman Turan, general manager of Geocell.  "Growth is really about new ways of thinking about both the hours and money that subscribers are spending on information, entertainment and business services."

When Telenity says it's a global provider, it means it.

Indeed, in June, Telenity announced that its Canvas iCON platform was selected by Singapore-based Tin Can Mobile Solutions as its exclusive platform for an ambitious initiative that called for 300 percent annual growth over two years.
