Entone and Verimatrix Provide IPTV Solution Which Streamlines Content Protection ProcessTMCnet Associate Editor
Entone Technologies, which provides personal video content delivery solutions, and Verimatrix Inc., a developer of content protection and security solutions, have reportedly partnered to deliver an enhanced content security solution for providers of IPTV. By integrating Entone’s widely-deployed StreamLiner network video recorder (NVR with the Verimatrix Content Authority System (VCAS), the two companies have developed a secure and reliable digital rights management (DRM) and video on demand (VOD) solution which further automates the process creating, processing and distributing video content. With most DRM systems, VOD content is distributed over a core network and stored at the operator’s site on a stand-alone system called a “catcher.” This content is then manually copied to another server where encryption technology is applied, and then copied again to an on-site VOD server. By integrating the VCAS software with Entone’s StreamLiner video streaming technology, Entone and Verimatrix have developed a way for newly arrived VOD assets on the catcher to be copied, watermarked, and then moved to the VOD server for playout automatically. The companies claim that by eliminating the step of manually copying a file, operators can deliver VOD assets to subscribers faster and more efficiently. “The success of many types of personal television services require secure availability to content and an easy way to prepare and deliver that content,” said Steve Oetegenn, EVP, global sales and marketing for Verimatrix, in a news release. “This partnership ensures that our customers get both in a fully integrated, intuitive and highly automated package.” The solution is already being used by a number of video service operators worldwide.
