Amino Technologies plc has set up a new business, IntAct Software Limited, to license its IntAct software solutions. The products will be licensed to set-top box OEMs and ODMs, semiconductor manufacturers, service operators and system integrators. Service operators and integrators will also be able to license Amino’s set-top box designs with a signature form factor through the new entity.

The IntAct IPTV (News - Alert) solution features a client software stack and IP set-top box server management tools. The combination ensures IPTV operators may use the solution with a wide range of middleware, conditional access, silicon, head-end system and browser technology. The interoperability, in addition to a lean architecture, drives down deployment costs and reduces time to market of the IPTV system.

The IntAct solution has been deployed in more than 500,000 set-top boxes in 80 commercial roll-outs. IntAct has been ported to six silicon platforms in multiple software configurations, in MPEG2 and MPEG4 H.264 and in standard and high definition formats.

"The number of volume deployments of IPTV networks should increase significantly in 2007 enabling local manufacture that brings associated reductions in import costs and multi-sourcing of set-top boxes operating a common software solution to ensure service reliability. IntAct offers its licensees these benefits," said Karthik Ranjan, vice president sales and marketing, IntAct. "The IntAct software stack and hardware reference designs are already established leaders in the market, with more than 500,000 IntAct-enabled set-top boxes deployed. By licensing them separately, we intend to bring increased choice and flexibility to the market while reducing risk, financial cost and time associated with IPTV service deployments."
