Juniper Networks Inc. announced on Monday that Lembaga Tabung Haji, a Malaysian government-linked financial organization, deployed the ISG 2000 firewall and virtual private network (VPN) systems to protect its infrastructure against threats and other network attacks.

The financial services organization has over 120 branches nationwide. It provides savings services in line with Islamic principles to help Muslims planning a pilgrimage to Mecca. Tabung Haji chose to deploy the Juniper's ISG 2000 systems at its data centers to provide firewall/VPN protection, as well as secure access services for the organization's staff and customers.

"Tabung Haji selected the Juniper firewall/VPNs because of its proven reliability, high level of granular security policy customization and excellent technical support," said Wan Ahmad Kamal, Juniper Networks sales director for Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei and Vietnam. "The ISG 2000 firewall/VPN systems not only offer firewall defense, but also a secure way for the staff to remotely access essential resources."

The ISG 2000 is an integrated firewall/VPN system with intrusion detection and prevention capabilities. The system provides multi-gigabit performance and it enables secure connectivity with protection against existing and emerging application level threats, such as spyware, worms and trojans. According to the companies' news release, the system is "ideally suited for securing enterprise, carrier and data center environments where advanced applications, such as VoIP and streaming media dictate consistent, scalable performance."

"Tabung Haji's deployment of our security solution is a perfect match of traditional practices being executed with cutting-edge technology," said Kamal. "The ISG 2000, together with Juniper's entire portfolio of enterprise security solutions, will be essential to protecting Malaysia's continued economic and technological development."

Juniper made news earlier this month when it announced that independent Israeli communications service provider 012 Golden Lines selected the company's M-series routing platforms, VF-series session border controllers (SBCs) and integrated security devices for its new VoIP network. The companies joined forces to bring VoIP-based calling services to Israel.

"We are pleased to welcome Meru Networks to the Juniper Networks Infrastructure Alliance," said Tony Scarfo, vice president, Partner Management at Juniper Networks.  "Juniper’s advanced IP and security solutions combined with Meru’s wireless LAN portfolio provides a unique, best-in-class solution for the growing wireless VoIP market."
