LiteScape Scores Government VoIP Application Contract

Associate Editor

It is no secret that VoIP is growing as an industry — the numbers don’t lie.  Enterprises, smaller local businesses, and consumers are all adopting VoIP technology for its rich feature set and cost savings.  But to really understand that VoIP is a reality, one need only look at how many local and state government agencies have adopted it.

And now, even the Federal government has enabled its various agencies to make the most of today’s advanced communications systems.  LiteScape Technologies, which develops technology for integrating business applications with VoIP and wireless devices, has been awarded a General Services Administration contract.  A GSA contract allows all agencies within the United States Federal Government to quickly and simply purchase VoIP applications and identity management solutions from LiteScape Technologies, providing ease of ordering and pre-negotiated discounts for products and services.

VoIP Convergence is a term hitting the radar of many businesses as they look to increase productivity and integrate with everything from wireless mobile devices to smart phones and more.

LiteScape develops enterprise software that enhances the value and utility of IP telephony by extending interactive voice, text, and image capabilities to telephones and other IP services.  LiteScape evolves business communications, improving employee productivity and customer satisfaction

LiteScape’s Secure Profile Management (SPM) solution provides secure, authenticated, and personalized access to information. The SPM solution provides for verifying and identifying users of IP-based systems, such as IP phones and/or computer systems. With the attachment of a Secure Personal Authentication Reader (SPAR) to a Cisco IP phone, SPM proxies the secure and encrypted exchange of user authentication information and automates the delivery of extension mobility profiles using RFID, magnetic cards, and biometrics.

The company’s OnCast product is an IP telephony broadcast solution that interacts with desktop directories and calendars, allowing users to easily collect content in many formats from a variety of sources, filter it for important details, and broadcast immediately or automatically, delivering information directly to the people who need it.

Typical OnCast uses include:
  • Conferencing — Instantly send interactive notifications from a PC or IP phone to team members for impromptu conference calls.  Recipients can accept and be connected to the call in one step.  There is no need to send pass codes or call in numbers;
  • Extended Workflow — Direct documents for review or approval to always on IP phones or mobile devices;
  • Risk Management — Broadcast live audio emergency alerts from one desktop or IP phone to the entire company and include full written instructions or evacuation maps;
  • Time-critical Collaboration – seamlessly deliver personalized content, such as relevant news, sports, weather or stock tickers, to a preset group and discuss it in real time via an ad-hoc interactive broadcast.

LiteScape also provides a complete turnkey collaboration solution designed to be cost effective and fast to implement for any business. With a pre-configured and pre-installed LiteScape appliance, customers can have plug and play capabilities for OnCast Directory and OnCast Desktop.

OnCast Directory provides interactive collaboration — Search and dial saves time; Search and conference delivers instant 2-way communications; Search and broadcast connects instantly to individuals, groups, or universally to send text, voice, and images.

OnCast Desktop utilizes a quick launch Web feature integrated with your existing corporate directories and calendar to send notifications, reminders and safety alerts that can even include an evacuation map. One-touch broadcasting and conferencing allows for immediate multi-modal collaboration.

LiteScape also provides industry-specific solutions, which, it seems, can be modified for various government agencies.

 “This year, we’ve made major inroads into several government agencies looking for security and biometrics around their VoIP applications,” said LiteScape executive vice president of sales and marketing Rod Hamlin. “Our GSA schedule will simplify the process for federal agencies that want to automate their business processes to increase productivity and add secure identity management.”
