Attend Service Provider Solutions Day for the Latest VoIP Equipment

Though (fortunately) it's not quite Aldous Huxley-envisioned, voice-over-IP (VoIP) has created a brave new world for telephony.

It has not been too difficult capturing the collective imaginations of the residential and small- and medium-sized business (SMB) markets regarding the benefits of VoIP.

What has been difficult is capturing the collective dollars of the residential and small- and medium-sized business markets.

Not surprisingly, education is at the root of the problem. Indeed, a recent Savatar survey of 300 U.S. SMB decision makers revealed that while SMBs are highly interested in VoIP, they don't know to whom to turn to obtain the service.

Furthermore, those responses don't address how SMBs believe VoIP can be delivered: hosted/managed/do-it-yourself/broadband.

Clearly, the winners in the residential and SMB spaces will be those who not only offer quality solutions, but also those who do the best educating the market AND themselves as to what is being offered.

A major piece to the education puzzle for service providers can be found during "Service Provider Solutions Day," a free seminar taking place at the INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & EXPO on Wednesday, October 26, 2005, at 12:30 p.m. at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

The seminar will feature presentations by several vendors, including Intertex, Epygi Technologies, Zoom and TalkSwitch, all of which specialize in manufacturing SMB customer premises equipment.

Intertex, for example, will demonstrate a SIP capable CPE device suitable for advanced home users and small offices having up to 50 users. The Intertex IX67 is a SIP capable firewall/router that includes a wireless access point with optional ATA functionality and is priced for mass deployment through carriers and ISPs.

Service Provider Solutions Day provides a great venue to see what vendors have to offer, and represents a wonderful opportunity to network with the makers of the solutions service providers will need to attract and/or keep their customer bases.
