VoIP News for 10 May: Broadbus and Axiom Partner, GoPets Offers PeerMe's VoIP

VoIP news announced recently:

GoPets, Ltd., which bills itself as “one of the fastest growing and most entertaining forms of online social networking, with over 300,000 users worldwide,” has announced an agreement with PeerMe, Inc., a voice over internet protocol (VoIP) company based in Mountain View, California.

The agreement enables GoPets users with free voice chat. GoPets users that sign up for the PeerMe VoIP will also be offered a bonus virtual item.

"GoPets equals people plus pets plus games," said GoPets CEO & Founder, Erik Bethke. "With PeerMe's VoIP service, we will now be able to offer our users the ability to chat with the ease and comfort of voice.”

Bethke added that with communication applications such as webmail, instant messaging, profiles, testimonials, and our iconic IKU language already in place, “adding VoIP is the next natural step."

Martin Mueller, V.P. of Game Content and Sales for PeerMe, Inc. said the company’s VoIP “adds a new level of connectivity and interaction to the GoPets user experience. Now, GoPets users can talk for free with each other for the first time using PeerMe."

Broadbus Technologies, Inc., a vendor of products for Television on Demand, and Axiom Systems, a vendor of service fulfillment software, have announced a partnership to address service providers' need for a next-generation video platform with an operational support system that gives subscribers on-demand.

The alliance creates a way for operators to simplify the deployment of IPTV (News - Alert) video offerings, including networked digital video recording (nDVR), time-shifted television and TOD.

While the growing market for IPTV services presents new opportunities for service providers, it also introduces a number of significant challenges. For example, the advanced video services enabled by IPTV demand a more reliable, powerful and scalable video platform.

These new IPTV services will have a marked impact on operational support systems, Broadbus officials say: “Designing, creating, delivering and analyzing performance of such services with existing systems is proving to be very complex as the next-generation networks over which they are delivered grow and evolve.”

The partnership combines the solid-state Broadbus B-1 Video Server, which provides a platform for advanced on-demand video services, with Axiom Systems' AXIOSS products, which are used to design, create, deliver and analyze advanced services across end-to-end next-generation networks.
