Language Barriers for Online Dating No Longer a Concern

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, although I don’t think conversation candy hearts are such a big deal in Russia….

While love may be the international language, it seems that international dating services were having a hard time connecting one to the other, often involving a middle-man (the translator) to get the spark going.

International dating service, CuteOnly is connecting Russian women with men from various parts of the world with the launch of an automated online translation feature as part of the Internet dating experience.

The online translation feature is provided on the base of ASP (Application Service Providing) and is powered by PROMT translation engine with a special “dating dictionary” attached containing words and phrases, typical for romantic correspondence.

The dictionary was built in collaboration with CuteOnly.

"This project for CuteOnly is the good illustration of online translation benefits. We can proudly say, that our online translator helps people from different countries falling in love. For the sake of increasing translation correctness we have developed a special dictionary to increase a translation quality of the specific correspondence," Boris Tikhomirov said, PROMT’s Head of Internet Department.

While this handy tool might be great for falling in love online, what exactly happens when two interested parties who speak completely different languages actually meet?

Call it crazy, but one can assume that having a live translator involved never made it fun for, would you say, more involved dating?

CuteOnly helps Western men in finding Russian women for relationships and marriage. Concentrating on the technological innovations and Web site usability, CuteOnly is the first Russian dating service to implement the machine translation feature.
