Alcatel announced this week that Triple T Broadband and Jasmine Telecom Systems tapped the French technology provider for its core IP/MPLS Routing and DWDM infrastructure to roll out triple- play services by the end of this year.

The new, multi-million Euro contract is expected to build the first phase of its next-gen network nationwide including Bangkok and its metropolitan area.

Triple T Broadband is reportedly the first private telecom company in Thailand, to deploy a countrywide core IP/MPLS and DWDM infrastructure. The company plans to provide DSL-based high-speed Internet services as part of its triple-play offering nationwide. Of the total, 100,000 phone numbers will for private companies, state enterprises and condominium residents in Bangkok and the metropolitan area. The rest will be for the provinces.

"Service providers are increasingly looking for highly reliable IP network solutions that can provide service guarantees to their customers. Alcatel (News - Alert) is committed to Triple T Broadband's success as well as enabling massive broadband adoption in the high-growth Thai market," said Michel Rahier, president of Alcatel's fixed communications activities in a statement.

Alcatel made news when last week it announced that it was tapped by Telefónica de España to provide access, aggregation and optical networking products and services, allowing the telecom to offer high bandwidth interactive services to its residential and corporate subscribers.

The integrated suite of products and services will enable the simultaneous delivery of personalized multimedia services such as IPTV (News - Alert), video on demand and HDTV to residential customers and advanced virtual private network services for its corporate customers.
