Vistula Powers Telstra's New Hosted IP-PBX ServiceTMCnet Contributing Editor VoIP services enabler Vistula Communications announced that its technology is behind Telstra Europe's newly launched IP-PBX service. Telstra Europe deployed Vistula's V-Cube for its launch across the UK.
“I am pleased to announce that as of Monday 3rd July 2006, Telstra is able to offer a SIP-based, Voice over IP, Hosted PBX solution that provides a highly competitive alternative to traditional PBXs,” said Richard Gandon, head of Product Management and Development at Telstra Europe in a statement. Telstra’s new service offers three pay-as-you-go service packages for standard, enhanced and premium users, plus an operator console for multi-line call supervision. Other features include Web-based voicemail, abbreviated dialing, conferencing, a softphone and roaming. With V-Cube, users and administrators will be able to manage their service profiles and to provide performance statistics and billing info through a Web-based portal. The service will also provide users with geographic and non-geographic numbers. Vistula had scored a similar deal with Mexican telecom and ISP Protel i-Next back in May. Protel iNext selected Vistula's V-Cube IP-PBX VoIP system to support some of its VoIP and IP Centrex offerings in Mexico. The suite of Protel i-Next’s Vistula-powered systems are expected to launch during the second half of this year. Protel i-Next serves over 150 cities throughout Mexico and it operates one of the country's international long-distance gateways and its licensed to carry telecom traffic to the U.S., Mexico, Central America and the rest of the world.
