Call Genie Announces Trials with Verizon

Call Genie, a provider of enhanced voice directory services, has entered into Memorandums of Understanding with Verizon to demonstrate the capabilities of Call Genie's Enhanced Voice Directory technology.

As part of a limited joint trial in Pittsburgh, PA, the EVD technology will be used to provide an interactive, voice recognition service that offers callers information about local merchants. Trial participants can search by business category (e.g., florist, plumber), street intersection, neighborhood or landmark. As part of the interactive navigation, participants will have access to merchant specific information and will also be able to connect to the merchant.

The trial will allow the Verizon telephone and Yellow Pages directory companies to assess and evaluate the benefits of providing users with the capability of performing a Yellow Pages search by phone. The tool is expected to be popular as more and more people are on the move and in immediate need of information and contact numbers for services that are relevant.

"This is an opportunity to create one of the largest voice directed Yellow Pages search solutions in the world," according to Michael Durance, Chief Executive Officer of Call Genie. "The trial brings together one of the largest 411 providers and its call distribution network with one of the largest Yellow Pages publishers through our voice-enabled Yellow Pages application.”
