Delta Technology, Delta Air Lines’ wholly owned subsidiary, has signed a seven-year, Information Technology (IT) infrastructure services agreement with IBM to obtain support for its ongoing IT needs and for Delta’s operations restructuring which will take place in the first half of 2007.

According to the agreement, IBM (News - Alert) will join forces with Delta Technology to offer Delta with comprehensive IT mainframe and mid-range services. The basic objective of the agreement is to outsource the airline's IT infrastructure management. Delta expects a significant cost savings over the term of the agreement.

“By working together, we will achieve our goal to reduce costs on a long-term basis while ensuring a positive customer experience," says Shirley Bridges, Chief Information Officer of Delta Air Lines.

Because of the agreement, “Delta gains access to our extensive experience in the airline industry and can leverage state-of-the-art computing capabilities to bring innovative solutions to safely transport passengers and cargo," informs Dwayne Ingram, Vice President Travel & Transportation, IBM Global Technology Services.
