AT&T's Government Solutions business unit announced this week that it was awarded with the Joint Hawaii Information Transfer System (JHITS) six-year contract by the Defense Information Technology Contracting Office (DITCO) Pacific, reportedly valued at $250 million.

The new contract calls for AT&T (News - Alert) to provide customized telecom and data services to the Hawaii-based military departments. The AT&T Government Solutions Hawaii team is based in Honolulu.

"At AT&T, we make it our mission to ensure that our military customers are getting the most reliable, secure and cost-effective solutions available anywhere," said AT&T Government Solutions' president Don Herring in a statement. "This latest contract is part of AT&T's long-standing commitment to providing DISA with real-world solutions, made possible by our networking and professional services capabilities."

The DITCO-Pacific is a part of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), a division of the Department of Defense (DoD), which oversees the Department of Defense's networking requirements.

AT&T made news earlier this week when it announced it inked a networking contract with Shoe Carnival to connect the retail chain's 266 store locations nationwide.

The contract, reportedly valued at $1.6 million, will extend the companies' long-term relationship. The new three-year contract calls for AT&T to provide Shoe Carnival with a fully managed high speed wide area network. The system will link Shoe Carnival's headquarters in Evansville, Ind. with the company's store locations around the country.
