Australian Motor Racing Circuit Deploys Mitel IP Solution

Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit in Bathurst, Australia has deployed a Mitel IP solution using the Mitel (News - Alert) 3300 IP Communications Platform (ICP).

Every October, the Mount Panorama Racing Circuit hosts the Bathurst 1000 motor sport event. The Circuit also hosts other smaller racing events throughout the year. The Pit Complex is owned and operated by Bathurst Regional Council.

Bathurst Regional Council implemented a Mitel 3300 ICP solution for its Mount Panorama Pit Complex , which is a purpose built motor racing facility handling world class racing events.

Mitel’s communications infrastructure in the Pit Complex can be deployed on demand. This enables the communications services to be tailored for specific race team requirements and dismantled after the completion of events.

The flexible IP solution enables the Racing Circuit to totally dismantle and reconfigure the communications infrastructure for its Mount Panorama Pit complex in days. Utilizing Mitel’s solution the company can easily tailor communications services for each race team, without requiring a site visit.

Every aspect of the system is reportedly managed via simple web based management tools from the IT department located in the Bathurst Civic centre.

“October race week at Mount Panorama usually attracts 40 racing teams, hundreds of media and more than 100,000 spectators over four days,” said Manager of Information Services for Bathurst Regional Council, Peter Fawkes in a press release.

He continued: “Every race team has different needs but they all try to push the limits of technology. Teams demand high speed Internet and sophisticated voice systems for their designated pit area. The ability to make rapid changes to communications services is essential.”

Mitel made news headlines last week when they announced the release of its Tele-Call healthcare solution which allows bedside access to hospital services for patients and offers patient information for hospital staff.

The solution works through the hospital’s existing IP network and communications systems to provide healthcare professionals with rapid access to complete and accurate patient information.
