PacificNet Inc.’s subsidiary, Guangzhou 3G has formed an alliance with China Central Television (CCTV,), China’s major national TV network.

Under the agreement Guangzhou 3G will provide several value-added and information services for The China Cultural Chart, including Multimedia Message Service , Color Ring Back Tone , IVR, picture and ring tone downloads, and others.

The China Cultural Chart is a Chinese cultural pageant similar to the academy awards in the US. Chinese actors, singers, and other performing artists perform for the pageant and are recognized for their work.

The public can vote for their favorite artist after each performance by mobile Short Messaging Service or through the CCTV International website.

The fans of the performers can utilize the VAS services by Guangzhou 3G to participate through mobile in the process rather than simply watching it on live TV.

The mobile phone-based wireless entertainment will enable enthusiasts to vote for their favorite act, download ring tones from the performing artists, and enjoy a vast assortment of new products and services associated with the artists that they admire.

According to one CCTV official, PacificNet and Guangzhou 3G intend to continually communicate representations of Chinese mainstream culture to people from all walks of life through VAS offerings, and exert a broad and profound impact on society as a whole.

“This takes us forward one great step toward marching into the culture and entertainment industry,” said General Manager of Guangzhou 3G, Super Yongchao Wang in a press release.

He continued: “To date, we have created a wide variety of handset-based VAS offerings which we hope will further enhance our long-term growth potential.”

Chairman and CEO of PacificNet, Tony Tong believes this alliance is an excellent opportunity for the company to leverage their expertise in customer relationship management and the cross-selling opportunities between the customers of TV and mobile wireless network.

“We continue to believe in the huge market opportunities in customer acquisition via cross-selling of wireless content and TV content,” said Tong.

China Central Television is a major national broadcast television network in Mainland China with an audience base of over 1.1 billion viewers.

Headquartered in Beijing and Hong Kong, PacificNet Inc. provides Customer Relationship Management, e-commerce and gaming technology in China.
