AudioCodes Completes Certification Testing with Digium's Asterisk Software

Israel-based provider of Voice over Packet (VoP) technologies AudioCodes announced on Tuesday that it successfully completed certification testing of its media gateway platforms using Digium's Asterisk (News - Alert) Business Edition, the professional grade version of Asterisk open source telephony platform. The move would enable telephony developers to deploy SIP-based systems faster.

In order to successfully complete the certification testing, AudioCodes' (News - Alert) SIP Gateway (News - Alert) products including the TP260/SIP, Mediant 1000 and the MediaPack, had to undergo a precise testing process to determine whether or not they were interoperable and compatible when integrated with Digium's (News - Alert) Asterisk Business Edition software.

"Digium is pleased to report that we have completed the testing between Asterisk Business Edition and AudioCodes SIP Gateway products," said Digium's director of software technologies Jim Webster. "AudioCodes adds to the growing list of products that have been certified with Asterisk Business Edition, allowing customers and resellers an expanded list of enterprise-class options for creating flexible and cost-effective solutions for demanding applications."

Today's news follows AudioCodes' announcement back in August about it partnering with voice and data systems provider Brekeke Software to promote IP telephony systems through AudioCodes' Open Solutions Network partner program.

The two companies have completed interoperability validation of Brekeke's OnDO PBX (News - Alert) and AudioCodes TP-260 PCI VoIP gateway board in order to allow users and OSN partners to develop VoIP telephony systems for small to medium businesses.

Brekeke's OnDO PBX is an SIP-based telephony system that features call conferencing, call recording, Automatic Route Selection (ARS) failover, call forwarding, and voicemail. AudioCodes TP-260 PCI board seems to be a good choice for trunking gateways to the PSTN and integrated gateways for IP-PBXs and all-in-one communication servers.

"Brekeke Software has a well-earned reputation for delivering high quality, intuitive VoIP products,” said Brekeke's CEO, Shin Yamade, in a statement back then. "Our relationship with AudioCodes presents a great opportunity for partners and resellers to receive the benefits of our experience and product knowledge. Combining the benefits of AudioCodes products and Brekeke IP-PBX create powerful tools for providing user-friendly and affordable telephony solutions."
