TransNexus, which provides software products designed to manage secure peer-to-peer VoIP networks, has made the RAMS open source project and OSP Toolkit available on SourceForge, proprietary software sold by VA Software.

The Open Settlement Protocol (OSP) tool kit is a complete development kit used by software developers who wish to implement the client side of OSP standard in securing VoIP peering. This OSP Toolkit has been integrated into open source VoIP and commercial products. RAMS OSP is a java-based server used for managing Call Detail Record collection, called number translation, and inter-domain VoIP routing.

OSP uses PKI services to deliver secured communication when using VoIP networks.

“The OSP protocol was developed to enable direct multi-lateral peering among VoIP networks,” said Richard Brennan, chairman of the ETSI TISPAN Next Generation Network Architecture working group, in a press release. “OSP provides secure inter-domain access control and eliminates costly network bottlenecks.”

TransNexus is leading provider of VoIP interconnect solutions on H.323 and SIP networks. It offers carrier-grade software platforms to support call authorization, accounting and routing of inter-carrier VoiP traffic. TransNexus recently completed testing VoIP systems together with I.S. associates. The interoperability testing allows the two companies to offer service providers reliable telecom products to meet their customers growing needs.

Sourceforge is a software development management system. It integrates open source and free software applications and provides software development services. SourceForge’s website is a centralized location used by software developers in managing and controlling open source software. SourceForge.net is similar to Open Source projects and provides disk space to projects for their content like mysql database, wiki and other source code versions. It offers projects useful tabs like Tasks, Admin, Download Files and Mailing lists. It also enables software developers to schedule and manage tasks, automatically send email to assignees, and monitor forums via email.
