Starhome Seeks to Solve VoIP Roaming Leakage

To help operators prevent leakage of roamers, roaming services and converged solutions provider Starhome has launched a platform designated Mobile2IP. The solution enables operators to provide end users the ability to simply connect their laptop to any IP network and make and receive VoIP mobile calls using their own MSISDN (Mobile Station Integrated Services Digital Network) number.

The solution is part of Starhome's next-generation roaming solution, Roaming 2.0. Mobile2IP will help users of different devices route incoming calls according to the zone they are in (IP/GSM) and their preferences-- to their IP client, GSM phone or both.  For example, a user can be in any global hotspot and choose to receive a call on either their laptop or through their mobile device, using the same identity.

The solution is based on emerging SIP (Session Initiation Protocol (News - Alert)) technology and does not need an additional billing interface. In addition to the converged service offering, the fact that the operator's brand and logo are embedded on subscribers' laptops strengthens customer relationships and operator brand identity, claims the company.

According to Starhome, Mobile 2IP helps mobile operators differentiate from their competitors by giving customers the flexibility to choose which device they want to receive calls seamlessly.

"The converged solution creates adhesiveness between IP and mobile networks which prevents user churn to competitive technologies," said Orly Nesher VP Marketing at Starhome, in a statement.
