Mainstream Digital to Use BroadSoft VoIP Services

TMCnet Contributing Editor

Mainstream Digital Ltd., a UK-based service provider in collaboration with British Telecom, has selected the BroadWorks VoIP application platform to deliver a set of fixed and mobile VoIP services to small and medium enterprises in the United Kingdom and Europe. BroadSoft (News - Alert) provides VoIP application software to expedite hosted telephony and multimedia services.

Mainstream Digital will also offer a white-label VoIP solution to allow small service providers to quickly launch VoIP services.  Mainstream Digital's VoIP service provides SMEs with a single communications solution with the same functionality as a PBX.

Using the BroadWorks platform and the BroadWorks Assistant-Mobile application, Mainstream Digital helps SMEs extend services over multiple sites via standard IP handsets, softphones and E (News - Alert)-series Nokia smartphones. Its VoIP offering also includes Business Trunking (IP Trunking) services, which allow businesses to retain their existing PBX by overlaying new hosted voice applications on top, thereby increasing the lifetime of SMEs' original PBX (News - Alert) investment.

"Almost every enterprise in the UK has a PBX that will be coming to the end of its life in the next few years.  Now that hosted services can accommodate mobile phones as well as IP handsets, we have reached the level where the business case exceeds that of the PBX. There has never been a better time to offer these services," said Ian Medlock, Mainstream Digital's managing director, in a statement.

The company will offer the service directly to its own customers as well as allow other service providers and resellers to white label the service offering.  For many small UK resellers and service providers, the overhead involved in deploying their own VoIP services platform can be prohibitive.

Mainstream Digital's white-label offer will enable other service providers to quickly, reliably and cost-effectively rollout VoIP services for their enterprise customers. The white-label service includes an easy-to-use desktop toolbar for complete "click-to-dial" and "follow-me" functionality.
