Bakrie Telecom (BTEL) is extending its Redknee (News - Alert) prepaid Unified Rating and Charging System (URCS) to include postpaid subscribers.

The Indonesian telecom service provider will build upon Redknee's existing converged real-time rating and charging solution for voice, data, messaging and content services.

Bakrie Telecom reportedly realized that a converged system approach will allow it to sustain and build on its market leadership. This approach enables the operator to launch new services quickly and easily via an extensible rating and charging solution.

According to Muhammad Buldansyah, deputy president director, Network and Operations at Bakrie Telecom, their company sees a tremendous opportunity to use innovative technology to unlock the value of their existing solutions and better manage their operational costs and business performance.

“The Redknee Unified Rating and Charging System has surpassed expectations over the past 24 months. Convergence (News - Alert) between prepaid and postpaid will help improve our operational capabilities and allow us to maintain our commitment to subscribers,” said Buldansyah in a statement to the press.

Buldansyah believes the extension of Redknee's converged URCS system, to rate and charge data services for postpaid subscribers in real-time, will provide Bakrie Telecom with more flexibility and performance for their growing data services and customer base.

Lucas Skoczkowski, CEO at Redknee points out that their Converged Billing solution can support millions of prepaid and postpaid users while reducing operational costs, time to market and maximizing ARPU for network operators.

“We are therefore delighted that an innovative network operator, such as Bakrie Telecom, can leverage our suite of products to meet the growing demands of their subscriber base,” he concluded.
