AT&T's 1-800-YellowPages Directory Assistance by VoltDelta Rolls Out in California

Volt Delta Resources, LLC (VoltDelta), a wholly owned subsidiary of Volt Information Sciences Inc. announced today that AT&T (News - Alert) Inc. has successfully rolled out its next phase for 1-800-YellowPages (www.att.com/1800YellowPages) by making the service available to the entire state of California.  VoltDelta (News - Alert) provides the carrier-grade, integrated platform used for this Directory Assistance (DA) service.

AT&T initially launched a controlled trial of 1-800-YellowPages in December 2006 in three U.S. cities, during which all aspects of the service were carefully evaluated and tuned.  As a result of this successful trial, the service is now being rolled out throughout California.

Callers to 1-800-YellowPages receive free directory assistance listings in exchange for listening to targeted, relevant audio advertisements during the call.  Callers can search for telephone numbers either by specific name or by business category, where the caller knows the type of business listing (e.g., lawyer, dry cleaner or taxi), but does not have a specific business name in mind.

To support AT&T 1-800-YellowPages, VoltDelta integrated several technologies with its existing platforms to provide a foundation for interacting with callers, routing calls among the solution components, delivering advertisements within the call flow, facilitating operator searches for white pages and business category listings, providing telco-quality business category content, and managing call context to ensure consistent, reliable service, across both automated and operator interactions with callers.

“VoltDelta is pleased with the success of AT&T’s 1-800-YellowPages trial and subsequent rollout” said Rich Oldach, executive vice president of VoltDelta, in a statement. “This is a terrific example of working closely with our customers and vendors to deliver new services and service extensions.  We look forward to working with AT&T to identify more exciting ways to leverage VoltDelta’s platforms to support AT&T’s competitive offerings.”

“We are pleased with VoltDelta’s continued leadership as the integrator and supplier of a platform that meets our needs for the 1-800-YellowPages service,” said David S. Huntley, senior vice president-Customer Information Services, AT&T. “The rollout of 1-800-YellowPages is an exciting example of how modern, open technologies can drive exciting new services.”
