Unity Wireless Wins $1.1 Million Order from Mobile Service Brand in India

Unity Wireless and their regional partner Frog Cellsat recently announced that it has been awarded a purchase order for $1.1 million with an additional 2007 forecast of $1.5 million from one of India's largest Wireless operators.
David Orton, vice president of Marketing and Unity's IRO points out that India has 15% penetration or 160 million subscribers today, with an annual growth rate of 82.2%. According to estimates, India’s wireless penetration will grow to 40% or 500 million subscribers within five years.
Orton also said that China is the biggest market in Asia Pacific with a subscriber base of 48% of the total subscribers in Asia Pacific.
“Compared to that India’s share in Asia Pacific Mobile Phone market is 6.4%. Considering the fact that India and China have almost comparable populations, India's low mobile penetration offers huge scope for growth,” he added in a statement.
Michael Manor, executive vice president, Sales for Unity's Coverage Enhancement Solutions group believes their ability to provide competitive products to the Indian market has allowed them to be successful in this region. He said their company sees great promise for this massive and growing market throughout the balance of 2007 and beyond.
The new order for Unity's Coverage Enhancement product line reportedly brings the 2007 order total from this tier-one operator to over $2.6 million.
Unity Wireless was in news last month for announcing the next order for it’s 915 MHz high power amplifier from one of North America’s largest wireless network equipment manufacturers.
