Opera Software (News - Alert) says its “State of the Mobile Web” report, just released, finds that six of the most popular phones models for Web browsing with Opera Mini are from Nokia (News - Alert), with from Sony Ericsson, one from BlackBerry and one from Samsung.

In the United States, nine of the top 10 phones for Opera Mini are BlackBerries, according to the company.

“People want the Web on their phone regardless of the type of phone they have,” said Jon von Tetzchner, chief executive officer of Opera. “Our list of top phones shows both smartphones and feature phones. It proves that given the right experience, many more people will use the Web on their phone. Accessing the Web on your phone is not a luxury limited to who has the most expensive phone model.”

The report also finds that usage continues to grow as more consumers find value in accessing full Web content on their mobile phones. People using Opera Mini viewed more than 3.2 billion pages in June, up 9.4 percent from May, according to the company.

Earlier this month German mobile phone operator Debitel (News - Alert) said it “decided to beef up its summer offerings by pre-installing the Opera Mini Web browser on seven new handsets.”

Just because you’re at the beach “doesn’t mean you can’t stay connected,” the Debitellians say, adding that hey, “no one knows this better than Debitel’s 8.3 million German subscribers.” Because you know what they say, 8.3 million Germans can’t be wrong.

Debitel’s new Internet service features the Debitel Dashboard, a way for users to access Web content directly from the homescreen. With the click of a Dashboard button, users can access e-mail, phone features, or get online to check the latest weather forecast.

Debitel phones that now feature Opera Mini include Sony Ericsson, Nokia and Samsung (News - Alert) models.
