GENBAND Opens Registration for 2011 GENFuzion Developer Challenge

GENBAND (News - Alert) announced the official opening of registration for the GENFuzion Developer Challenge, with entries submitted between April 15 and July 15, 2011.


As a global enabler of IP infrastructure and application solutions, GENBAND specializes in switching, applications, networking and service solutions, with products deployed in over 600 customer networks spanning more than 80 countries.
Hosted by Coral CEA, a not-for-profit community organization that leverages technologies and expertise in the Web Collaboration and Communications Enabled Applications domain, the newly formed GENFuzion Developer Community, the Developer Challenge is said to provide a means for third party developers to access the open Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) of GENBAND's A2 Application Server, provide "Sandbox" testing for their applications and create a collaborative discussion forum.

Company statement revealed that the GENFuzion Developer Challenge recognizes and financially rewards the most innovative developers who leverage the open Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) of GENBAND's A2 Application Server to offer telecom service providers and their customers compelling solutions in the categories of Lifestyle, Productivity, Mobility, Unified Communications (News - Alert) and Video. It will recognize the top three app developers from across six strategic categories with $15,000 for first place, $10,000 for second place and $5,000 for third place.
Winners, as stated, will be announced August 19, 2011. The top three app developers and honorable mention category winners will receive cash prizes and promotion of their contest entries in the GENBAND GENApps Showcase.
GENFuzion Challenge Categories include; Lifestyle - Consumer application that leverages the A2 to communications-enable the home via computer, television or other consumer device; Productivity - A2 powered application that increases the productivity of an employee within the business setting; Mobility - A2 powered application that leverages the mobile phone or tablet for consumer or enterprise accessibility; Unified Communications - Application leveraging the A2 for messaging, conferencing, collaboration, presence, etc. to provide a unified communications experience for the consumer or enterprise user; Video - Application that leverages the A2 video calling and/or video conferencing capabilities.
The GENFuzion Developer Community creates an "open, collaborative eco-system with all the required support resources for fostering innovation," Micaela Giuhat (News - Alert), vice president of product marketing at GENBAND said in a statement.
