NORWALK, CT - April 11, 2013 - TMC announced today a new addition to ITEXPO (News - Alert) Las Vegas 2013: SDN Precon, which will take place on Monday, August 26, at Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas.

Software-defined networking is one of the most important, and potentially disruptive developments in networking since the rise of the Internet. SDN turns traditional thinking on networking on its head, and approaches networking from an applications-first standpoint.
'With a focus on applications first, SDN is poised to turn networking upside down,' said Rich Tehrani, CEO of TMC (News - Alert) and conference chairman for ITEXPO. 'This event will be a great way to kick off ITEXPO and will reflect the innovative and inquisitive attitude we want attendees to bring to Las Vegas later this year.'

In the SDN Precon sessions, participants will:
    • Define software-defined networking and its use cases
    • Delve into the differences between NFV and SDN, and what that means to you
    • Discover how SDN can open up network visualization
    • Explore the intersection of app layer SDN and SDN, and what challenges each addresses
    • Hear analysis from Ovum (News - Alert) on SDN's impact on enterprise services
    • Receive updates on SDN work at the Open Networking Foundation
'The SDN Precon programming will be extremely helpful in defining what exactly SDN is and its role in the networking space,' said Paula Bernier (News - Alert), executive editor of INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine and chair of SDN Precon. 'It is a new paradigm for the industry, and one that is gaining significant momentum.'
Registration for SDN Precon is now open, and is included with any ITEXPO registration.
