ViewCast (News - Alert) Corporation, a provider of streaming media solutions, launched Osprey 845e video capture card, a new addition to its Osprey line.

ViewCast's Osprey line of video capture cards are an industry standard, recognized globally for their image quality and reliability. The newly launched Osprey 845e is noted to bring a new level of choice to market. The card includes ViewCast's SimulStream technology.
John Hammock, president and chief executive officer of ViewCast emphasized that the card carries ViewCast and Osprey tradition of the highest audio and video quality.

It introduces higher channel density with up to four independent SDI inputs and has a true 3G input with only one connector, as opposed to the dual link normally found in other cards. With more modes and pre-processing features, the Osprey 845e has customer-defined screens for signal loss to prevent streaming interruptions as well as automatic HD-SD input detection and switching. The default frame rate delivered to client applications is also customizable.
Content providers can select from two models based on their definition needs, and still expect an optimum viewing experience -- standard definition and high definition SDI -- to suit a wide range of applications in broadcasting, enterprise, education, government and global OEM system integration. The standard definition model can be field upgraded to high definition SDI, allowing the customer to manage infrastructure cost. The high-definition model can input four independent HDSDI signals or two 3G SDI signals. The new PCI (News - Alert) Express card also has drivers for Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems.
By combining its Osprey and Niagara IP video encoding solutions with the capabilities of ViewCast Media Platform (VMp), ViewCast reports to have created one of the most comprehensive platforms available for driving value in today's IP-centric digital media marketplace.
In related news, ViewCast launched the Niagara 2200, a portable streaming media encoder, along with the Niagara 9100-2D, a high-density multiple encoder platform.
