Fabless semiconductor company, Zenverge launched first commercially available networked quad stream HD transcoder IC, ZN2000, which will help pay-TV operators and broadcast equipment manufacturers to cost-effectively deliver a high-quality video experience anywhere, anytime, and to any IP-connected device.

Utilizing sophisticated video processing technology, the ZN2000 is capable of transcoding up to four HD or 16 SD video streams simultaneously. The chip is also capable of transcoding two full HD streams to eight ABR profile streams, thereby providing the greatest transcoding density and most robust adaptive bitrate streaming control.
'The broadcast industry is increasingly supporting a wide range of IP-connected viewing devices and complex media formats, while ensuring a superior quality of service for consumers,' Amir Mobini, president and chief executive officer at Zenverge said in a statement.

'Our content networking ICs increase the operational efficiency and video quality of consumer and professional platforms, enabling pay-TV operators and equipment manufacturers to deploy high-quality multiscreen services in a ubiquitous network at reduced operational and capital expenses,' Mobini added.
Apart from ZN2000, Zenverge's ZN200 family of content networking ICs is designed specifically for consumer electronics and set-top box (STB) manufacturers. They help operators to reduce their capital expenditures by expanding their traditional STB business model to reach a wider range of devices.
The ZN200 enables broadcast operators in the cable, satellite, terrestrial, and telco markets to stream live content to iOS and Android (News - Alert)-based tablets and smartphones efficiently, deliver high-quality H.264 video content to legacy MPEG-2 STBs, and broadcast compelling video content to game consoles and other IP devices.
Zenverge is a devoted to accelerating consumer access to next-generation digital content and services. The company is a developer of content networking ICs built around the patented TransAll technology, a core requirement for next-generation video services gateways. The company is based in Santa Clara, Calif.
In other news, Zenverge closed a strategic round of financing led by Verizon (News - Alert) Investments LLC, a subsidiary of Verizon Communications Inc, with participation from Zenverge's existing investors. Zenverge will use the funds to accelerate the deployment of media gateways.
