Qualcomm (News - Alert) has partnered with Recruit Holdings and Dentsu, Inc. for their joint venture, Blogwatcher, to license the Gimbal context awareness solution.

This announcement with Recruit, Dentsu and Blogwatcher is the first large-scale use of Qualcomm Labs' advanced context awareness technology.

For geofencing and interest triggers, the Gimbal solution offers always-on, low-power tools. Apps deploying the Gimbal solution can provide end-users more and more relevant, personal, timely and useful experiences.

Based on the end-user's location, activities and interests, it can provide data and content as well.

Qualcomm Labs is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated. The company serves as an internal incubator concentrating on catering to new market and product opportunities.

Over time, products and services that are commercialized with the help of Qualcomm Labs become new subsidiaries, transfer to other Qualcomm business units or potentially exit as independent companies.

"Regardless of device, culture or language, smartphone users are looking for compelling, tailored mobile experiences that can benefit them on a day-to-day basis,' said Peggy Johnson, executive vice president of Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and president of Global Market Development at Qualcomm. 'This successful first rollout in Japan - a country well recognized for its cutting-edge use of technology - demonstrates that the Gimbal solution can meaningfully impact the way app developers, businesses and brands reach end users."

Recently, the company partnered with VRI and Tri-City Medical Center (TCMC). With this partnership, the company hopes to achieve this goal by making use of wireless technology, logistics and monitoring services.

TCMC seeks to offer a platform that can look after patients in their homes 48 hours after they have been discharged. For readmission for heart related issues, the hospital wants to keep its impressive record of being No. 1 in San Diego County.
