Net2Phone Taps BridgePort to Offer MobileVoIP

VoIP systems provider Net2Phone announced on Tuesday that it selected BridgePort Networks' MobileVoIP convergence architecture for its telecom partners to be able to offer a joint landline/mobile system to their customers.


 
Thanks to the new partnership Net2Phone will be able to enable its partners offer service subscribers with single number voice and messaging communications using dual mode cellular/WiFi (News - Alert) mobile phones that work in either network environment.

 
"Working with BridgePort Networks gives us the capability to allow our customers to rapidly go-to-market with MobileVoIP converged services," said Net2Phone CEO Liore Alroy in a statement. "Our ability to integrate fixed mobile convergence into our existing VoIP solution solidifies the value of Net2Phone's turnkey VoIP solution for service providers."
 
Net2Phone made news when it announced it merged with international telecom IDT Corporation as of February 17, 2006, providing for the acquisition of Net2Phone by IDT.
 
The news followed Net2Phone's announcement about being tapped by Quincy, Massachusetts-based cable television operator Atlantic Broadband to provide VoIP services. Atlantic Broadband's Phone Service and its Triple-Play package are now available in an area of central Pennsylvania, where it serves 145,000 subscribers.
