More Verizon (News - Alert) customers in Westchester County, New York—specifically, the community of Mount Kisco—can now sign up for FiOS TV service, the telecom’s alternative to cable TV.

Verizon says its network is the largest in the nation. The telecom believes this is why it earned the independent Fiber to the Home Council’s certification for providing fiber all the way to customers’ homes and businesses.

Verizon’s FiOS TV, which is delivered over the telecom’s all-fiber network, is now available in more than 60 New York communities through cable franchises that have been approved in Mount Kisco, Massapequa Park, Laurel Hollow, Cedarhurst, Lynbrook, Mineola, East Rockaway, Town of Hempstead, Town of Oyster Bay, Farmingdale, Valley Stream, Town of Huntington, Town of Smithtown, Irvington, Greenburgh, Eastchester, Nyack, South Nyack, Upper Nyack, Grandview-on-Hudson, Clarkstown, Ardsley, Dobbs Ferry, Tarrytown and Freeport, New York.

“The new year is starting right for consumers in Mount Kisco, who have been given an outstanding, superior choice for their video entertainment,” commented Monica Azare, Verizon's senior vice president for New York and Connecticut in a statement released on Friday.  “FiOS TV will bring something to consumers they've never had before, with incredible pictures and sound clarity and innovative new services, all from a brand they know and trust.”

Verizon’s FiOS TV Premier package delivers 200 all-digital channels for $42.99 per month.  The package comprises more than 20 high-definition (HD) channels in the New York market and access to approximately 4,000 on-demand titles.

Today’s news follows Verizon’s recently introducing the FiOS television service in 106 communities in the state of New Jersey. The service will now be available in parts of Bergen, Camden, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Passaic, Somerset and Union counties.

Verizon said that under the Garden State’s new video franchise law, the telecom has announced plans to offer FiOS TV over its all-fiber network in more than 300 communities in the next few years.
